MATERIAL AND TOOLS REQUIRED FOR FITTING GLU SHOES

1.ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES

2.STANDARD FARRIERS TOOLS for hoof dressing and shoe shaping.

3.DEGREASING FLUID*.
This is required for removing all grease and contamination from bith the hoof and GLU shoe prior to Glueing. Use only SURGICAL GRADE ACETONE (ACETONE BP) or ALCOHOL (ALCOHOL BP) or COMMERICAL GRADE ETHER DO NOT USE any other fluids such as Nail Polish Remover, White Spirit, Methylated Spirit, Petrol, etc. These will not adequately remove contamination and will leave residues which will destroy the glue bond.

4.CLEAN WHITE COTTON WIPES*. For applying the degreasing fluid. An alternative is SURGICAL GRADE PURE COTTON WOOL, but this tends to leave fibres attached to the hoof. DO NOT USE any other materials, including coloured or printed fabrics, paper towels, woven paper wahing up cloths etc. All of these contain dressings which will be dissolved by the Degreasing Fluid and deposited on the shoe and hoof. This will prevent adhesion of the glue.

5.DISPOSABLE PLASTIC GLOVES*. These protect the fingers and hands from contact with glue and degreasing fluid as well as preventing skin oils from being deposited on the hoof or shoe after degreasing.

*All these items are provided in the MUSTAD DEGREASING KIT which is available from your supplier.

NB: It is known that the majority of premature failures are caused by using the wrong materials. If in doubt always use the MUSTAD DEGREASING KIT which is specifically formulated for this purpose.
